Top Gun Traders Edge was founded by a trader with over 20 years of options, equities, futures trading, and portfolio management. Mr. Shute has expertise garnered both on multiple exchange floors as well as screen-based trading and trading system development. Top Gun Traders Edge aims to deliver a consistent, outstanding live trading education experience to their student clients that allows them to watch a seasoned professional trader analyze markets in real time, then find and take high probability trade setups. In time, with proper training and mentoring, our members become skilled, independent traders, and most continue to stay on as clients for the comradery, support, additional education, and results.

Dana S. Shute

Dana Shute manages the overall strategic direction of Top Gun Traders Edge and Top Gun Trade Zones. Prior to this, he was the Director of Marketing and Business Development for LOGe Risk Advisors (now StratiFi), a boutique Boston-based investment firm specializing in risk management and analysis. He has traded and managed portfolios for Goldman Sachs, Kottke Associates (now Heyhmeyer Investments) and traded futures and options on almost every major U.S. futures exchange including the CME, CBOT, CBOE, and PSE.
As a former partner in one of the first, and largest, online U.S. day trading firms in 2000, Dana brings his passion and extensive knowledge of trading back to the retail market with Top Gun Traders Edge. He is excited about educating a new generation of traders and helping them achieve their trading goals.
Prior to his financial career he was a Naval Aviator and developmental test pilot for twelve years where he flew five different jet aircraft, accumulated over 200 carrier landings, and fought in the Persian Gulf war. Dana retired from the Navy as a Lieutenant Commander in 1996.
Dana graduated from Cornell University and lives in Marblehead, Massachusetts. He enjoys sailing, kayaking, photography, cooking, and attending concerts.

Jim Easter, is one of the driving forces behind Top Gun Traders Edge and Top Gun Trade Zones. He serves as a Partner and Lead Programmer, bringing a wealth of experience to our dynamic team.
Before venturing into entrepreneurship, Jim was a Senior IT Manager at Janus Capital Group in Denver, CO, with impactful roles in data analytics at Capital One Finance, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, and Kaiser Permanente. Notably, at Capital One, Jim led projects assessing the effectiveness of operational and marketing campaigns using advanced statistical analytics.
Since 2004, Jim's programming journey began with crafting NinjaTrader applications, resulting in an impressive array of trading tools and strategies.
Jim holds an MBA in Finance and Marketing from Baylor University, demonstrating his commitment to a comprehensive understanding of the financial landscape. Additionally, he earned a BS degree in Engineering from Texas A&M University.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Jim enjoys diverse hobbies, including photography. Living on the coast, he enjoys activities like swimming, boating, fishing, and beach strolls. Quality time with his wonderful grandkids is another joy for Jim.
